Welcome to First Presbyterian Church of Escanaba, MI.
We’re your neighbors right around the corner, on the corner of First Avenue S and 10th St.
We have taken a bold step forward to embrace what God is calling us to be and to do. In January we welcomed the Rev. Dr. Cheryl Duke as Interim Pastor. A transplant from western Kentucky, she brings over 30 years experience as a pastor whose particular calling is to help congregations grow in spirit and in membership. She has begun that work by reminding us of our baptism which is God’s grace poured out for us all, and by helping us celebrate our gifts and calling.
This year is the 150th Anniversary of our congregation, and through a celebration of our history, mission, and fellowship, we intend to set the stage for our next 150. We welcome you to join us. Please stop by Sunday mornings for fellowship and “Breakfast for a Buck” (830 to 9:30 a.m. every Sunday morning), then if you are looking for a church home, please stay and enjoy one of our adult and children’s Sunday School classes (9:30-10 a.m.) and our 10:30 a.m. worship service and following worship, our world-famous fellowship hour!
Grace and Peace to you, friends, in the name of Christ.
Certainly the heart of our life and work together is the Sunday morning worship service. It begins at 10:30 a.m. September through May, and at 9:30 a.m. during the summer. Our music program is renowned, our preacher has a deep love of the gospel, our liturgy is traditional, and also, we believe, has the breath of God in it for today. We celebrate communion the first Sunday of the month.
This is what we’re shooting for: a church both rooted in tradition, and always free in the Spirit. Stop in and share in prayer, song, and hear a message that encourages your faith for your life today.
The service is the beginning. There’s more. We believe that God brings us out from the world for weekly formation as the body of Christ, and then sends us right back out to be God’s people in the world.
Brings us out. So at First Presbyterian we offer a great church school for kids K-7, a fantastic confirmation program, adult Bible studies, and numerous other opportunities to grow in Christ. Check the Christian Education tab to learn more.
Sends us back. Just as important, this congregation is out in the world with our hands and feet moving, sharing the good news of God’s love for all. We do this as individual people, and as a congregation. Check the Missions and Outreach tab to learn more.
Now you’re getting to know us; stop by so we can get to know you.
Office hours are 9 a.m. to 12 noon Monday through Friday. Give the church a call or just surprise us with a visit.
Our address is 819 First Avenue South. Our phone number is 786-2932. Check the Location and Contact tab for all our info.
